Orbs is a public blockchain infrastructure designed for heavy use of applications and tightly integrated with EVM-based L1, such as Ethereum and Binance SmartChain. Unlike private and permissioned blockchain solutions typically used for such applications, Orbs infrastructure is open and permissionless. The Orbs protocol is decentralized and is executed by a permissionless validator public network that uses proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus. The Orbs protocol relies on ORBS tokens, which are used to settle expenses related to application execution and provide an incentive system for electing validators (called "guardians") in a secure and decentralized manner.
