The Flare Network is a distributed network running the Avalanche consensus protocol for Federated Byzantine Agreement and utilizing the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Therefore, it can be used as a scaling method for smart contract networks without relying on economic security mechanisms. There is no connection between network security and the native token Spark, allowing for greater flexibility in how the native token can be used. The Spark dependent application model provides a blueprint for building applications on the Flare Network.
